Travis A. Griffith: A Highly Experienced Attorney

Travis A. Griffith

Travis A. Griffith is a member of the American Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar and the West Virginia Association for Justice. He is admitted to practice law before the West Virginia Supreme Court, United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Travis has served as a faculty member in Continuing Legal Education courses dealing with the litigation process in West Virginia and has lectured to groups regarding the use of experts in the trial process specifically dealing with traumatic brain injuries and workplace incidents.

While attending law school, Travis was active in community service projects involving local area education and the Humane Society. During his third year of law school, he was awarded “Best Brief” at the Gabrielle National Moot Court Tournament in Albany, New York.

After law school, Travis spent several years working for the law firm of Pullin, Fowler, Flanagan, Brown & Poe, PLLC working in the defense of political subdivisions and municipalities. During this time, Travis additionally obtained his license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. In Kentucky, Travis was responsible for the defense of numerous legal malpractice actions being litigated in Jefferson County, Kentucky involving several Jefferson County law firms.

During this time, Travis was able to learn a great deal about litigation, and particularly the pitfalls lawyers can fall into in private practice. Having obtained that information and honed his skills, Travis felt it was time to move on.

In 2007, Travis realized a life-long dream of running his own law practice when he formed Griffith Law Offices, PLLC. The firm was dedicated to the protection of the citizens of West Virginia for injuries they received in various forms of accidents. The firm emphasized litigation dealing with workplace injuries, wrongful termination, wrongful death, brain injuries, and the protection of citizens’ civil rights.

Additionally, Griffith Law Center, PLLC litigates cases where children in the State of West Virginia have been treated inappropriately at the hands of educators who have been trusted with their care. During the next several years, Travis litigated cases in the state and federal courts of West Virginia and Kentucky.

In 2010, after collaborating on several projects, Griffith Law Offices, PLLC merged with another law firm to form Olivio & Griffith, PLLC. The merger of the firms allowed Travis to develop new skills in the areas of employment and labor law, as well as insurance bad faith litigation.

For the next few years Travis continued to litigate cases in the areas he previously practiced; but, also gained insight on new areas of law and maintaining an atmosphere of a full-service practitioner. During this stage of his development, Travis was honored to receive an “AV” rating with Martindale Hubbell—the highest rating a lawyer can receive for skills and ethics.

Travis believed at the time that once the skills were obtained, it was possible to create a firm that would be a “one-stop shop” for all of a client’s different needs.

So, please take the time to review the website and call or e-mail for any and all of your legal needs. As the Center has come to say, now you have a friend who is a lawyer!

In essence, Travis learned that a client would be more comfortable working with the same lawyer on numerous different issues as clients need assistance in different areas of the law during different times in their lives. Put more concisely, a client likes to work with a familiar face that is more than just a hired counsel for a job.

Thus, in 2015, Travis Griffith founded the Griffith Law Center, PLLC. The Center is designed to be a place where a client can obtain different types of counsel for different issues they might have over the course of their lives. A client’s experience with the center might begin with a simple motor vehicle accident or domestic issue. Later, that same client might have a death in the family and require assistance in probating the estate or pursuing a claim against the person or entity that caused that wrongful death.

As that client becomes older it might become necessary for him or her to begin thinking about the legacy they leave behind and discuss with their attorney the contents of their will or other estate planning to minimize the emotional and tax burdens upon their family at his or her death. Consequently, the Center believes that each client is a friend of the firm who is familiar with the services they will receive and knows where to turn whenever they have need for legal counsel.

Travis continues to protect the citizens of West Virginia and Kentucky through the legal process for serious accidents and injuries they have sustained, as well as inappropriate employment practices, improper insurance practices, and wrongful death. Moreover, Travis takes additional time to assist in public service volunteer work and with local and national charities which fight addiction, domestic abuse, and child development.
